Position: Certified Medical Assistant

Location: Boston, MA 

Position Description:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Medical Assistant who wants to work in a specialized area of occupational health for our client, a University Research Occupational Health Program located on the medical school campus in Boston's south end. The Program focuses on the health, wellness and safety of the University's research and scientific community.

Under the Direction of the Medical Director or other licensed care provider, the Medical Assistant will provide patient care, and a variety of clinical and administrative medical duties including:

  • Preparing patients for examination, including blood pressure, temperature, weight

  • Administer immunizations and screenings

  • Collect/prepare lab specimens

  • Collect urine drug screen samples (certification provided by the department)

  • Schedule follow up appointments

  • Maintain examination and treatment areas, including stocking and removing of expired medical supplies

  • Notify patients of lab results and xray reports

  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation in the electronic medical recordkeeping system

  • Maintain patient records confidentiality

  • Other miscellaneous administrative duties as assigned.



High School or equivalent

Completion of an accredited medical assistant program with certification


Experience: 1 year as Medical Assistant preferred

Additional eligibility qualifications:

Medical terminology

Knowledge of medications and injection procedures

Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing


Hours Required: Part-Time position 20 hours per week.  Prefer 2.5 days per week, but will also consider or five half days (8 – noon).
