Position: Occupational Health Nurse

Location: Medford, MA 

Position Description:
Occupational and Environmental Health Network, P.C., “OEHN” is seeking a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner to provide occupational health nursing support and expertise to our client, a Boston area University.

  • Position is full-time (35 hours), benefits eligible 

  • One year position with the possibility of extension 

  • Location:  Medford MA


Job Summary:

Provides occupational health nurse services to faculty and staff to minimize lost time and to keep employees physically and mentally able to perform jobs. Observes, promotes and ensures adherence to safety, security and industrial hygiene rules and protocols.  Collaborates with university stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of health services.  Supports University Infection Control Health Director in working with OEHN to develop and execute the University’s long-term Occupational Health and Safety vision.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide nursing services focused on employee injury and illness management, medical surveillance, accident case management and disability management

  • Assist with identifying and implementing applicable medical surveillance programs to ensure organizational regulatory compliance

  • Performs occupational health surveillance evaluations and tests as established by organizational guidelines

  • Maintains accurate clinical records, utilizing approved medical, nursing and statistical formats, including computer technology.  Ensures a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity to inquiries and access to personal medical records and information

  • Provides answers to questions posed to COVID-19 and influenza help line and refers parties to appropriate resources

  • May provide first aid treatment and medical emergency management to ill or injured employees on university premises.  Notifies incident/accident o all concerned according to established guidelines, referring work-related injury/illness cases to Worker’s Compensation Resources

  • Collaborates with organizational stakeholders including Human Resources, Environmental Health and Safety Professionals, Student Health Services and Employee Assistance Program contractors to ensure effective implementation services.


Minimum Required Experience, Educational Background and Certifications/Licenses:

•    Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree in nursing
•    License to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts
•    3-5 Years of occupational health nursing experience
•    Knowledge of Massachusetts workers’ compensation law, HIPAA, OSHA, ADA and FMLA
•    Broad based knowledge of occupational health and general nursing practices, procedures and protocols
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills
•    Experience working with diverse populations
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office:  Word, Excel, Outlook and demonstrated skill with electronic medical record documentation
Additional preferred experience:
•    Infectious disease nursing experience preferred
•    Case Management Experience
