Hi
Everyone:
Hoping all of you are doing well and enjoying the summer months. As
we move forward at OEHN and keep pace with a tough economy,
competitive business models and consistent challenges and
opportunities in managing our business – it’s appropriate I provide
a mid-year review on OEHN.
I first want to say we have had a
consistent and respectable performance regarding the financial
component of our business over the last six months. Under the
leadership of Tom and
Lee, we have maintained a steady
balance in managing and monitoring our cost structure and revenue
stream. The growth philosophy at OEHN has been built on prudent,
cautious and incremental growth. Our “boutique” style company lends
itself to this charter and has held up over the four year tenure of
the OEHN brand. The day to day activities keep all of us busy, value
driven and purposeful in our job roles. We continue to chart our
course and juggle multiple corporate objectives and execution of our
short and long term strategies.
Speaking of brand, over the last six months our brand image and
positive perceived value in the market has opened up doors to
winning five new Medical Director Clients with companies who are
significant in global brand reputation. We are thrilled they have
chosen our people, services, reputation and expertise in delivering
solutions. In addition, OEHN’s disability product line and other
service solutions continue to deliver value to the many market
segments we serve.
Regarding our Disability product line,
we are awaiting new books of business in August and continue to
concentrate on growing this line. It can be described as an
extremely competitive and difficult market to penetrate. We have
made strides. Complimenting our full-time physician base, we are
fortunate to have a high caliber of physicians supporting our record
review needs such as Dr. Davis and Dr. Garb who have proved valuable
and consistent in their contributions. We thank all of our per diem
physicians for their work.
On February 12, 2008, OEHN hosted the
2nd annual Lewis H. Millender, MD Educational Series event at the
Waltham Woods Conference Center. The event was titled: “Risk versus
Benefits of Short and Long Term Opiate Use and The Psychiatrist at
the Workplace.” The featured speakers, Dr. Brian Johnson and Dr.
David Rosmarin shared their expertise through case studies and
answering audience questions. CME and CEU credits were awarded to
the 75 plus occupational health professionals who attended the
event. As a first, Dr. Winters and Dr. Okurowski honored Dr Walter
Panis as the first recipient of the OEHN “Occupational Achievement
Award”.
We have continued to provide the New
England Occupational Health market with other marketing events,
including an Industrial Hygiene Seminar and planning is in process
for a CPR training course along with a Total Disability Management
seminar scheduled for the fall. Please review our enhanced web site
where you will find a magnitude of
information concerning OEHN.
Also, in April, we were proud to announce
Dr. Winters
honored by the Harvard School of Public Health as “Clinical
Professor of the Year Award”.
In closing, I am pleased to announce
the addition of two new full-time
members to the OEHN team.
Dr. Abe Timmons (Medical Director) and
Luann Loughlin, NP.
The best to all in the days ahead.
